What are the Payment Standards?

SpotOnTask payments use one funded, fixed total for each task. These standards explain what Posters and Workers should agree, when money is charged, and how to keep the payment protected by the task record.

Use one fixed total

  • A Worker submits a total offer amount for the complete agreed scope.
  • The offer is not an open-ended hourly, unit, commission, or quote-only arrangement.
  • Include expected labour, materials, travel, and other agreed costs in the task scope and total offer.
  • SpotOnTask does not support instalments or partial releases for one task.

You may use an hourly or unit estimate to calculate a price, but the offer submitted on SpotOnTask must still be a fixed total.

The task is funded when it is posted

The Poster is charged when the task is posted. The task budget is then recorded as Held while the task is open, assigned, or in progress. Accepting a Worker's offer does not charge that offer as a new payment.

An offer cannot be accepted above the funded task budget. If the agreed total is higher, the Poster must increase the budget and fund the difference through SpotOnTask first. The offer, scope, and budget should agree before work starts.

Keep every task payment on SpotOnTask

Do not ask for or make cash, bank-transfer, cryptocurrency, gift-card, or other direct payments for a task arranged through SpotOnTask. This includes tips, deposits, and reimbursements. Put agreed material or supply costs into the task budget and offer instead.

Keep scope and price changes in the task conversation. Off-platform payment arrangements are not represented in the task payment record and may lead to moderation or account action.

Check the offer breakdown

Before submitting an offer, a Worker sees the offer amount, the applicable service fee, and You'll receive. The fee displayed for that offer is the amount to rely on because configured fees may change.

Release payment only after completion

  1. The Worker completes the agreed work and requests payment release.
  2. The Poster checks the work and resolves any final questions in task chat.
  3. The Poster selects Release payment.
  4. The Worker's net amount is credited to their SpotOnTask balance. A release is not a direct bank payout.

If the work or scope is disputed, do not release payment or arrange a separate refund. Keep evidence in task chat and contact support.

Supported payment methods

Use a payment option shown in the secure checkout. Available cards, digital wallets, or local methods depend on the payment provider, device, browser, and account region. Keep saved payment details current in Payment methods.

Cancellations and refunds

Cancellation outcomes depend on the task's status and who cancels. Review the amounts shown in the cancellation confirmation before proceeding. Do not promise or arrange an off-platform refund.
